Our experienced beauticians provide you with an Aveda skincare personal treatment with products and ingredients chosen specifically for your skin type. All Tulasara facials are designed for each individual client; these facials cover acne, blemished skin, sensitive skins, dry/dehydrated skins and mature ageing skins. A professional consultation is carried out at the start of your facial, where we will work out your needs and which products would help with your skin concerns. Aveda products are vegan, cruelty free and 98% naturally derived: they will improve your skin whatever type it is.

We offer all our facials and body treatments in time slots of 30, 60 and 90 minute intervals and charge for the time requested rather than a type of treatment. Below you can read all about the types of facials we offer, but please bear in mind that after your consultation, elements from various facials can be built into your personalised treatment.

Advancing the science of chemical peels, this professional facial treatment helps texturise skin, smooth fine dry lines, refine pores and restore radiance. Safe for acneic skin conditions, the perfecting plant peel can be performed as a standalone treatment or added to any other facial treatment. It is especially excellent to exfoliate the skin and the facial produces radiance benefits of up to 30% of the effects of a glycolic peel with out the associated redness and irritation

Experience the aromatic power of Aveda pure flower and plant essences. Your chosen aroma will encompass the senses, Swedish massage techniques will balance, comma soothe and invigorate your body. All our Aveda massages can be fully customised to suit your needs and address any areas of stress and tension within the body.

Your massage can be tailored to your needs for that particular treatment depending on how you’re feeling. Choose from either an uplifting aroma or a de-stressing, comma relaxing one. We use Aveda’s stress fix formula, comma which is proven to reduce feelings of stress in the body using a combination of lavender, lavandin and clary sage. Alternatively, comma Aveda’s beautifying formula is uplifting and softening, comma and uses a blend of rosemary, lavender and bergamot.

Hot Stone Massage

For stronger, deeper massages, comma we recommend our new hot stone massage. Stone therapy is an ancient healing art dating back thousands of years that has been rediscovered. The stones used are smooth, basalt, volcanic rock which has high heat retention. Stone therapy increases blood circulation and cell metabolism. Tight and tense muscles relax as the heat penetrates the skin.

Hot stones are best known for inducing an enhanced feeling of relaxation, wellbeing and balance. The heat causes a deeper and quicker relaxation of muscles, which helps alleviate stress and tension. Direct heat allows manipulation of a greater intensity than a regular massage: each stroke with a hot stone is the equivalent to ten made by hand.

What are Hopi Ear Candles?

Thermal Auricular Therapy (also known as Hopi Ear Candles) is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, used to treat a variety of conditions.

These ear candles induce a revitalising heat and light suction process upon the head and ears, which soothes, relieves and relaxes.

How do Hopi Ear Candles Work?

The candles are made from the natural ingredients of beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St. Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax. A constant high quality is ensured. The candles work on the chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. They equalise the pressure in the head and ears, making them suitable for most conditions. Secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. Most of the these are carried away through the candle “chimney”, although some of them can be found in the condensed candle wax residue after removal from the ear.

What Are Hopi Ear Candles Used For?

Though results may vary from guest to guest , some people have reported Hopi Ear Candles to be helpful with:

Excessive or compacted wax in the ears
Irritation in the ears and sinuses
Pressure regulation in cases of: sinusitis / tinnitus / glue ear / colds / flu / headaches / migraine
Stimulation of local and reflex energy flow
Energetic revitalisation in cases of hearing impairment
Relaxing and calming effect in cases of stress
Noises on the ears, ringing and tinnitus

Are There Any Side Effects?

No contradictions are known to date but as a precaution, it is advisable not to use Hopi Ear Candles:

If grommets are in place
If there is inflammation or infection
In the event of an allergic reaction to the contents

However, most guests find the treatment relaxing and regularly describe a “slight relieved feeling” in the ears and head but also a relaxing and calming effect on the whole system.

Where long term conditions are being treated, the client can sometimes experience slight headaches and occasional popping shortly after the treatment.

What a Typical Treatment Session Entails

You are asked to lie comfortably and listen to relaxing music. The candle is then gently placed onto the auditory canal, where it is lit. It is held in a vertical position and held steady. You will experience a pleasant crackling sound as the candle burns and a warm comfortable feeling. As the candle burns down, the residue ash will just turn to dust. The candle is then taken away while you lie there for a few moments before turning over to treat the other ear. Most guests find the whole experience very relaxing. Some fall asleep during the treatment.

Does the residue of the candle go into the ear?
No – the candles are made with a plug inside which prevents anything from going into the ear

Does it help to have a treatment before taking a flight
Yes – especially if you suffer from sinus problems, it is a good idea to have a treatment prior to your flight to get rid of any excess wax

I suffer from a lot of ear wax and often have them syringed. Could I use these candles instead?
Yes you could. A number of guests who previously endured the discomfort of syringing no use Hopi Ear Candles instead

A Brief History of Hopi Ear Candles

This is an ancient and natural therapy handed down by many civilisations. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual, but much later on a purely physical basis. However, the practice reached the modern world via the native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona. Ear candles were used traditionally by Shaman healers. Ancient wall paintings show their importance in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe. The candles are still made today on the basis of the old traditional formula originating from the Hopi Indians.

Waxing & Threading Treatments

Threading is an ancient method of hair removal. Practitioners use a pure, thin, twisted cotton thread which is rolled over untidy hairlines, eyebrows or lip hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing where a single hair is pulled out each time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line.

Threading is more suitable than waxing for clients with a sensitive skin type and skin is not traumatized.
The treatment takes roughly 15 minutes and will last 3 – 4 weeks

Please note that there may be an increase in charge if extra time is needed for difficult or dense hair.

We have a stunning manicure bar area and pedicures are provided in a private beauty room.

We take great pride in constantly offering up-to-date nail services that will always care for your nails and nail bed, as we are keen to keep the structure of the nail at its optimum strength. We currently use Shellac CND and Vinylux and our latest technique is the ‘cats eyes’ nail paint effect. Ask about it when you’re in next!
